Una was born at ‘Berry Hill’ on 5 July, 1892, and received her education at the Hartley Vale school. She helped at home with the housework, but found time to become an excellent tennis player. She was a keen member of the Kenton Valley Baptist church and joined in all public functions. On 26 May, 1923, Una married Gordon Hanna. Gordon was a son of Dawson Hanna J.P. and his wife Annie, nee Bethune, of Forreston, and was born on 14 February, 1892.

The Hannas lived at Forreston until 1950 when they retired to Adelaide. There was one child Glenis, now Mrs B.R. Dohnt of Risdon Park, Port Pirie. Una died in Adelaide on 11 June, 1960, at the age of 68 years. Her husband survived her by six years and died on 15 August, 1966. The couple are buried at Gumeracha.
